- The standard fees are $42 per defendant in each case.
- Garnishments are $22 per defendant.
- Money orders, certified checks, and business checks are accepted.
- No personal checks.
Civil Warrants

Civil Warrants deputies serve between 1,500 and 2,000 non-criminal warrants each month. Documents handled by this office include property disputes, divorces, child custodies, evictions, garnishments, subpoenas, civil lawsuits and orders of protection.
Civil warrants include legal documents for service on a defendant, witness or employer or legal representative.
If a person is not home, a deputy will leave an orange card with information on the door, including the deputy’s telephone number.
Please call the deputy between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, or bring the orange card to the Sheriff’s Office’s main entrance at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.
Office hours are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Steps for an Eviction
1. Landlord must give renter a 14-day written notice.
2. After 14 days, the landlord a Detainer Warrant must be taken out through General Sessions Court in Room 101 at the Judicial Building at the downtown square in Murfreesboro. A court date will be set on the detainer.
3. Ten days after the court date, if the renter has not left the property, you will have to return to General Sessions Court to take out a Writ of Possession.
4. The Writ of Possession will be sent to the Sheriff’s Office. Please include your name and telephone number on the Writ of Possession so the Sheriff’s Office can contact you to set up the eviction.
Evictions will not take place if there is a 30 percent chance of rain nor on holidays and weekends.
You are responsible for moving all the personal property at the time of the eviction.
