David Hailey, Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement

Deputy Chief David Hailey brings 39 years of law enforcement experience, including six years as an Air Force Military Police officer, three years with the Warner Robins Police Department in Georgia, and 30 years of service with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Chief Hailey began his law enforcement career as a Military Police officer in the United States Air Force before serving with the Warner Robins Police Department in Georgia. In 1996, he joined the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, where he has served in a variety of assignments, including Patrol, School Resource Officer, SWAT, Criminal Investigations, and Warrants.

Deputy Chief Hailey was promoted to Captain in 2010 and has provided leadership across multiple divisions throughout his career, including Criminal Investigations and Narcotics, Patrol, Warrants, Evictions, Extraditions, and Evidence. His extensive experience across both operational and investigative divisions has provided him with a broad understanding of the Sheriff’s Office and its mission.

Deputy Chief Hailey holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Bethel University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, and the FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy.

Deputy Chief Hailey is committed to serving the citizens of Rutherford County and supporting Sheriff Kenneth Barrett in leading the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office with integrity, accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to service.
